Claire Wilson
Washington State Senator
Claire Wilson has represented the people of the 30th District since 2018. She is proud to Chair the Senate Human Services Committee and Vice Chair the Early Learning and K-12 Education Committee, and holds the role of Assistant Majority Whip.
She has been a strong proponent of youth leadership and voice and reform in the juvenile justice, child welfare and corrections systems and is motivated to disrupt the institutions that keep people where they are instead of providing them the tools and resources needed for success.
She has been the force behind major education legislation and also championed the landmark Fair Start for Kids Act, which invested $1.1 billion to make childcare and early learning more affordable for Washington families.
Before her time in the legislature, she spent 25 years serving as an administrator in early care and education and served for eight years on the Federal Way school board .
Claire identifies as a lesbian woman and mother and is one of seven LGBTQ lawmakers in the Washington State Legislature.
